This is how I make a boring task fun to do!

What are some ways you could make a tedious task enjoyable?

To get my artwork ready to start my next works of art, I need to sand the panels, apply gesso layers, wait for them to dry, apply other ground layers, and repeat the process. It may seem tedious and like the type of tasks one would tend to put off, but they are crucial for creating my art. The past couple of days have been spent doing just that: sanding and priming birchwood, masonite, canvas, and watercolor paper for my next exciting projects! While working on these seemingly mundane tasks, I envision the future artwork that each panel will become, yet I crave more instant satisfaction in the process. How can I motivate myself to complete these tasks effectively?

Well, I decided to motivate myself with the reward of spending time with my beloved feathered companions! Of course, I spend time with them every day, but thinking about spending fun time playing with them is a delightful prospect to anticipate during this mundane work! The interaction with my birds always brings excitement and joy!! Time with my birds even provides inspiration for my next work of art! There's definitely some synergy happening between my art and my feathered friends, as you may have already noticed in previous blog posts!

Check out my latest instagram reel about my work breaks spent with my birds, and stay tuned for more entertaining tales about the connection between my avian friends and my artistic endeavors!

What strategies do you use to make a boring task fun to do in order to successfully complete it? Do you schedule breaks for activities that you enjoy as a motivator? Please feel free to share your insights in the comments section - I'm excited to hear from you!

For mundane tasks, keep focused on the fun prize you set for yourself for breaks and for when you finish!
